Whether you're growing your first plant or looking to improve your cultivation skills, education remains one of the most important tools for success. From selecting the right genetics to understanding harvest timing, every stage of cultivation presents unique opportunities and challenges.
To help growers build confidence and expand their knowledge, Pure Shenandoah is launching a four-part Grow Workshop Series focused on the fundamentals of successful cannabis cultivation. Led by our farmer and Co-Founder, Jake Johnson, each workshop will cover a critical stage of the growing process and provide practical insights that growers can apply immediately.
As a company rooted in Virginia agriculture, we believe education plays a vital role in helping growers make informed decisions throughout the cultivation process. Through this workshop series, participants will have the opportunity to learn directly from an experienced cultivation team while gaining a deeper understanding of the plant from seed to harvest.
Successful cultivation requires more than simply planting seeds and waiting for results. Environmental conditions, genetics, pest management, nutrition, and harvest timing all influence the quality and consistency of a crop.
As the cannabis and hemp industries continue to evolve, growers have access to more information than ever before. However, hands-on learning and direct guidance remain invaluable resources. That's why educational workshops continue to play an important role in helping growers understand best practices while avoiding common mistakes.

Each workshop will be led by our Cultivation Director and Co-Founder, Jake Johnson, who oversees cultivation operations at Pure Shenandoah.
Through years of hands-on experience, Jake has developed expertise in plant health, environmental management, pest prevention, harvest timing, and cultivation best practices. Throughout the series, participants will have the opportunity to learn directly from a cultivation professional while gaining practical knowledge that can be applied to both indoor and outdoor grows.
As part of our commitment to education and transparency, our team is excited to share real-world cultivation insights with growers throughout Virginia and beyond.

Every successful harvest starts with proper preparation.
Our first workshop will focus on the foundational decisions that set growers up for success. Topics will include grow planning, selecting genetics, choosing equipment, understanding environmental requirements, and creating a cultivation strategy before plants ever enter the garden.
Participants will learn how preparation can influence plant health, productivity, and overall cultivation outcomes throughout the growing cycle.
Whether you're planning an indoor setup or preparing for an outdoor season, establishing a strong foundation is one of the most important steps in the process.

Outdoor cultivation presents unique opportunities and challenges.
This workshop will focus on environmental factors that impact outdoor growth, including sunlight, soil health, irrigation, weather conditions, and seasonal planning.
Participants will learn how growers can work with natural conditions while maximizing plant health and development throughout the growing season.
Topics may also include site selection, plant training techniques, and strategies for maintaining healthy growth in changing environmental conditions.
For additional cultivation guidance, growers can explore educational resources from the Virginia Cooperative Extension.

Healthy plants begin with proactive pest management.
Our third workshop will focus on identifying common cultivation challenges and implementing preventative strategies before problems impact plant health.
Participants will learn about monitoring techniques, integrated pest management (IPM) principles, environmental controls, and best practices for maintaining a healthy cultivation environment.
Effective pest management often begins with observation and prevention, making this one of the most valuable educational topics for both new and experienced growers.
Additional pest management resources can also be found through the USDA.

Harvest is one of the most important stages of the cultivation process.
Timing, drying, curing, and storage all influence the final quality of a crop. During this workshop, participants will learn how growers evaluate harvest readiness and implement post-harvest practices designed to preserve quality.
Topics may include trichome development, harvest timing, drying environments, curing methods, and long-term storage considerations.
Understanding the harvest process helps ensure that months of cultivation effort translate into the best possible final product.
Maintaining quality standards throughout cultivation and post-harvest processing remains a key part of responsible production. Learn more about our commitment to transparency through our Certificates of Analysis (COAs).
