What is CO₂ Extraction and Why Is It Important?

CO₂ extraction uses pressurized carbon dioxide to pull the essential compounds — cannabinoids, terpenes, antioxidants, and waxes — from the hemp or cannabis plant.

CO₂ extraction is considered the gold standard because it’s safe, non-toxic, and leaves behind no harmful residues. Using CO₂—an inert, non-flammable gas—makes it much safer than methods like butane or ethanol extraction, which involve highly explosive solvents.

The result is a food-grade crude oil rich in terpenes and acidic cannabinoids like CBDA and CBGA, just as nature intended. This clean crude oil can also be refined into high-purity distillate, perfect for crafting gummies, oils, edibles, beverages, and more.

Step 1: Growing & Harvesting

The quality of the input material is everything — healthy, cannabinoid-rich plants lead to cleaner, more potent extracts. Great oil begins with great farming.

Step 2: Dercarboxylation

We activate key cannabinoids like CBD and THC by gently heating the harvested material — unlocking their full therapeutic potential before extraction.

Step 3: co2 extraction

Using supercritical CO₂, we carefully extract cannabinoids, terpenes, antioxidants, and waxes — preserving the full-spectrum profile nature intended.

Step 4: Emulsification

Oil molecules are broken down with pure organic ethanol to improve consistency and prepare for further refinement — creating a more uniform and stable extract.

Step 5: Winterization

We chill the extract to remove fats, lipids, and waxes — purifying it and enhancing its performance in final products.

Step 6: Filtering

The extract is passed through fine filters to remove any remaining plant matter such as fats, waxes, and lipids, ensuring clarity and improving potency.

Step 7: Rotovap (rotary evaporation)

Ethanol used during winterization is gently removed and recycled without degrading the quality of the extract. This specific step is what really sets C02 Extraction from typical Ethanol or Butane Extraction methods.

Step 8: Short Path Distillation

Final refinement isolates cannabinoids:
Light compounds like volatiles and terpenes are removed first.
We then collect pure CBD/THC.Heavier compounds like sugars and starches are left behind.
